This guy’s name is Scott Campbell. He recently exhibition in new york. His stuff is so cool. he cuts a stack of dollar bills up to make sculptures. It’s awesome. The detail is unreal. I want to know how he put each layer together. I also want to know if every layer is a destroyed dollar bill. Isn’t that illegal. But i love his technique, the way he displays his art, which i will have to think about with my display. The paintings he does are simple but creative as well he seems to throw a bunch of paint on a mirror and he pulls the paint away as it dries if i had to guess.

Over the past weekend i took Kelly to see Wicked on Broadway. It was a fun trip we took the train in and walked around time square, which was a first for me. The play its self was the best Ive seen, granted it was also my first Broadway play. The actresses could really sing. As an art plays do not do much for me granted it is a very hard thing to do. The set which i guess is the most related to a piece of tangible art was very interesting. it was made out of huge gears to look like the inside of a clock. It was well made, visually pleasing, functional, and i think award winning. If you ask me what makes a good set I couldn’t tell you, but it was entertaining to say the least.

DP Signore – Art In The Window, Ambler
http://dpsignore.com/Gallery/galleryd.htm#
This is her website, but i saw these actual pieces in ambler, and i was impressed. She uses what i would call a blotchy affect with paint. It is what looks like hundreds of geometric shapes on top of one another giving it a layered feel and makes her images look real. Her theme seems to be people at the beach and they are all very well done my favorite is the portrait of the man looking off into the distance. – Seems that she paints from pictures she takes – All at the beach – All very colorful – Interesting

Gourmet Spring Collection
-Unique
-Clean
-Bright
-Easy to look at
-Nice features
-Spring Feel
Gourmet has been around for a little bit but they are a relevantly new sneaker company. These are their most recent pieces. They have introduced a new shoe. the last picture of the three. As a collection I can see the spring feel they are trying to convey, not only from color but style. They are able to make the boot shoe called the Quadici (the first shoe) which looks like it belongs in the cold, but with a quick splash of color they seem to be blossoming with spring. The last shoe although uses dark colors, the styling is low cut and very lite looking, giving it a spring feel.

I recently went to art in the window in ambler. I found an artist that i liked. her name is Karen Kieser. she is a sculpture and mainly works with clay and bronze. her most intriguing piece was a model of ruins that almost look like rock forms it seemed to be made in a hastily manner but yet very detailed. it was about the size of a shoe box. I was surprised that it retailed for upwards of 2,000 dollars, seems like a good business to me. she also did a head and shoulders model of someone but kept the face detailed and the torso all most robot like. I liked her technique and style. she also seemed to be very skilled and she has inspired me and reminded me of another artist who works with metal but makes metal shoes and they are quite impressive. She also seemed to be very profitable, she was prob making a grand per piece easy.

I did mine on the internet on a guy named Chris Owens he is an industrial designer and has done many projects. the one that cought my eye was a cell phone he designed.
it looks like a solid thin black peaces of plastic.
i like the shape
- size
-display
-how it slides
- the polished glass looking key board
- the detailed drawings
i could see myself doing projects like this in the future and seeing his designs makes me think that i could definitively compete in the industrial design market. his other projects include a car shoe computer and chair designs.
National Portfolio Day 11.30.09
I really enjoyed national portfolio day, i was a bit nervous for my first time. i went down to the convention center with Sean smith and he kinda eased my nerves cause he was much more nervous then me. my attitude going into the convention was if they don’t like me they don’t matter cause i wasn’t planning on going to an art school. figuring i had nothing to lose i went straight to the line for Pratt. me and Sean waited for 2 hours in line. My interview went very well, much better than expected. it really helped that the guy that interviewed me was a shoe connoisseur as well. he really liked my stuff and gave me a lot of confidence in my work. later that night i applied to Pratt.

This is a piece by Doernbecher children’s hospital that works with Nike to make unique shoes for some of their lucky patients
Since 2007 they have been making custom color ways of Nike’s models
This piece is reconstructed Air Yeezy which is one of Nike’s most limited supplied shoes it is also Kayne’s official sneaker.

- I like the symmetry
- The creative aspect of making parts of a shoe into a statue
- Very original
- For a good cause
- Simplicity
*Other sneakers he has designed

Art In The Storefront
I recently went into ambler before a playoff field hockey game to look at some art. Sipping on some sweet tea my buddy Stu and I went to see what was going on. Although I can’t remember the artist, I do remember his art. I wasn’t a fan with the exception of one piece. This piece was a close up of a distorted mans face; it was reminiscent of my most recent piece in my sketchbook. The only difference was about ten hours and a considerable amount of skill. Hi other pieces were either weird or confusing. He had a bunch of mini phone booths with pictures on them which looked trashy, and his other paintings where random. One was of the back of a bald man with a bifocal on the back of his head…
